As they say, all good things must come to an end.
First, a little bit of history. Back in 2006, it became apparent that I needed a website. Of course, the first step was finding a URL. BobLevine.com was taken and I really wanted to focus on the InDesign consulting and training that I had been doing.
Adobe had hit a homerun with InDesign and there were a lot of organizations switching their workflows over from Quark to InDesign. I was pushing it big time and quite often when I’d follow up with a prospective client they’d say something like, “oh yeah, the InDesign guy, right?” And so, TheInDesignGuy.com was born.
Much has changed since then. InDesign is now the defacto desktop publishing application, not the new kid on the block and I’ve expanded my services to include things like web design that either don’t involve InDesign or where its use is irrelevant. And so after more than a decade, I felt like a change was in order. And so, I’m retiring the old URL and replacing it with BobLevineDesign.com.
For most of my clients, it’s a lot easier to remember and certainly rolls off the tongue a bit easier. The important thing is nothing but the URL changes. I’m still here to help with anything related to InDesign including my popular online InDesign Q&A sessions.
The old URL has a 301 Redirect so hopefully, Google and prospective clients will still be able to find me. There will be a bit of a transition for email but the old Bob@TheInDesignGuy address will eventually forward to Bob@BobLevineDesign.com. With any luck at all, I won’t lose anything important, but in the long-run, I’m positive this is the right move.
Finally, if you’re reading this and have links to TheInDesignGuy.com on your site, would you be kind enough to update that to BobLevineDesign.com?
Great move, Bob!
Thanks, AM.
It’s been relatively painless. Had some caching issues which cascaded into some errors on Google Search Console, but everything seems to be okay now.
Email is a different story, but I’m working on that.
